MASA Members Attend Free Screening of October Sky (2/6/1999)
On Tuesday evening, January 26, many MASA members braved the icy
winter weather and travelled to the Mall of America in
Bloomington. The evening's attraction was a free sneak preview
of the movie October Sky, based upon the book Rocket Boys by
Homer H. Hickam, Jr. (IMHO) It's a great movie and story -
well worth the price of admission. As is usually the case, the
book was given somewhat of a "Hollywood" treatment during
its transformation for the silver screen. For greater
information and depth of character, see the movie and then read the
book; it's available at your local or online bookseller.
Comments after the movie included "I'd pay to see it
again."; "Great movie!"; "A good family
movie."
October Sky will go into general release in theaters during
