Cub Scout rocket display in Little Canada (1/13/2003)
[the request for help] Cub Scout Pack 462 in Little Canada is
having a meeting next Monday evening, Jan 13th, starting at 7:15pm.
Craig Miller, leader of that pack, is looking for someone (one or
several people) who can come to the meeting, bring along some
rockets and related stuff, and talk to the Scouts about the basics /
essentials of model rocketry. He is trying to get their interest, as
the pack will be flying rockets this spring. (Volunteering for this
would not obligate you to help them in the spring, but if you wanted
to, I'm certain that they'd welcome the help.)
[Stuart Lenz] Ellison and I met with Craig Miller on Monday night
where we set up a display table with about 20 different types of
rockets, materials and launch pads. There were about 60 Cub Scouts
and their parents present that we got to talk to while the pack had
propeller driven rocket races. We were there for about 2 hours and
at the end presented awards for their 'Coolest', 'Classiest', and
'Best of Show'. Craig's den has already built Alpha IIIs and plans
to launch them sometime soon.
