Outreach Reports (6/14/2005)
We had two Rocket League launches last week: Anwatin
launched Monday afternoon at Bryn Mawr Meadows, and Pillsbury
launched at Bethune Park.
Anwatin brought about 90 kids in two waves. MASA member
Carol Marple, INSciTE Director Fred Rose, and I did the best we
could to help out the throngs of kids having an afternoon out. They
all flew Delties in the Airshow configuration, with some excellent
flights (one over a minute) as well as some not so great flights
(shreds, red barons, etc). The kids teamed up to build the Delties-I
had about 30 times turned in, and probably fifty glider flights in
total. Overall the kids seemed to have a great time, and many of
them may have learned a few things, too!
I did a much smaller, more relaxed launch the next morning
at Bethune. Six teams from Pillsbury flew their Delties, also in
Airshow configuration, and posted some respectable times.
Finally, I had the opportunity to give a talk on rocketry to
Boy Scout Troup 567 in Plymouth last night. I got lots of good
questions afterwards.
Photos from the Rocket League launch at Bethune will be up
on the rocket league website any day now.
